| Sleep MathsThis page contains links to a series of YouTube videos (actually just sound tracks) which can be played to children as they go to sleep, or maybe in other situations like when driving. The idea is to fix the sequence of numbers and the addition and multiplication facts (tables) in the memory. I recorded myself counting to 100 when my third child was one year old and played it as he went to sleep. He liked it: he found it comforting. What's more, he ended up being better at maths than either of my older two children, being the top maths student in his year at high school and now working as a mechanical engineer. Each counting sequence or set of number facts lasts around 5 minutes, then repeats for the 30 minutes of the video. There are gaps long enough to anticipate the answer or the next number. Each video starts with a title screen which runs for 5 seconds, then goes dark while the soundtrack plays. There are no ads or other interruptions. Click the links to open the videos. |
